The Perma Trophy story starts on July 30, 1909, in Barnsville, Minnesota. J.P. Hawkins first introduced his taxidermy skills to the local town hall establishing one of the oldest taxidermy companies in the world. Little did J.P. know that over 70 years and 3 generations later would his company change the face of traditional fish taxidermy.
In the late 1970's the third family generation Dennis Deegan founder of Perma Trophy Fish Replicas realized that with fishing practices of the time fish stocks could be threatened for future generations.
Early fish replica prototypes he developed were quite crude to the standards of today. Regardless Dennis introduced them to fishing lodge owners at various conventions across Canada and the US. After a few years of ridicule a small handful of northern Canadian lodges adopted a catch & release philosophy with the alternative to a traditional skin mount, the Perma Trophy Fish Replica.
Today catch and release fishing is a foregone conclusion in the vast majority of fishing lodges in Canada and around the world.
